Watch: Tim Stutzle smiles and shakes his head in disbelief as Kings’ goalie Cam Talbot makes INCREDIBLE diving save
Kiyoshi Mio-USA TODAY Sports

The National Hockey League (NHL) is known to produce some of the most thrilling moments. It now seems to have produced one of the top saves of the 2023-24 season as Cam Talbot showed off his impressive reach during the game between the LA Kings and Ottawa Senators.

With the Sens 1-0 up in the second period, they received a puck drop near their Kings’ goal. As the team passed around the puck, it found’s it way to Tim Stutzle . The German international would take his shot, thinking he has doubled his side’s advantage.

Unfortunately for him, that was not the case. Talbot would show off his reflexes and dived across the net to catch the puck cleanly in his hand. The slow-motion replays saw the goalie fly across his net and make the save.

Following this amazing save, Stutzle was left stunned. The Sens center star was seen smiling and shaking his head in disbelief to this development.

This saved proved to be crucial as moments later the Kings went they other way and leveled the game at 1-1. Had Talbot not made that save, things could have gone wrong for the Los Angeles based side.

LA Kings edge past Senators 4-3 to hand them sixth consecutive loss

Things are just not working out well for the Ottawa Senators. The Canadian side has struggled heavily on the ice this season. Their poor performances saw coach D.J. Smith being fired from his position. Since then, the side have shown little improvement with this 4-3 loss, their sixth consecutive defeat.

Despite leading the game and dominating the play in the first two periods, the Sens were unable to hold the game in their control. They would find themselves 3-2 down until the final five minutes. Drake Batherson would go on to make it 3-3 and put the game into overtime.

Luck though was not on the side of the Sens as Kevin Fiala saw off two skaters to find the back of the net with three minutes remaining of overtime. It turned out to be Fiala’s 20th goal of the season. Interim coach Jim Hiller would later credit the Kings’ star for his OT winner.

That’s a really hard goal to score. He was at the end of the shift already. … I wouldn’t have liked to see that thing go the other way. I know we were tired, we were a little worried about that, but give Kevin credit. Jim Hiller on Kevin Fiala as per Sportsnet.

The Sens are still rock bottom of the Atlantic Division with a 25-32-4 record. Whereas the Kings are currently third in the Pacific Division table and firmly in the mix for a Stanley Cup playoffs berth.
